Training Walks
At The People’s Pup, we have a strong passion for allowing every dog the opportunity to enjoy the natural world outside of their home or backyard. However, some pups have a difficult time managing their emotions and stimulation levels out and about, especially once a leash is attached. We can help you and your dog learn specific strategies to navigate through the environmental triggers that appear on walks.
We initially gather information about your dog’s walking behavior during a consultation and discuss the positive methods we plan on using to keep them calm and focused. After we take them on a few solo walks, we will invite you along to observe the skills we’ve worked on. Ultimately, we will hand over the leash and empower you to follow through with the new behavior patterns we’ve already practiced. This helps jump-start progress and ensures that you and your dog feel more confident and secure on your walks together.
*Dogs until 1 year old are required to do training walks to build their skills before transitioning to regular walks.
Puppy Training
Getting your puppy off to a positive start is essential for them to become a well adjusted adult dog! Thoughtful socialization, proper home management, and teaching basic cues are a few of the components that we can cover during puppy lessons. Common puppy behaviors like biting, jumping, chewing, and potty training are all issues that can be addressed and curbed as well. Through mutual communication, we can ensure that you and your puppy start building the kind of relationship that you would like to achieve long term!
*Drop in puppy training can be done if you are not home (after an initial consultation)
Does my dog need a training walk?
Is your pup reactive on a leash (barking/lunging at other dogs, people, or other stimuli?)
Is your pup pulling excessively?
Is your pup under a year old?
Do you want your dog to react neutrally to stimuli it passes on a walk?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, your pup would do best on a training walk!
